This is the link. Coverage starts about 40 minutes into programme. Bottom line is David Mercer, National Grid, says it’s up to the government to set the policy on paying the additional costs.
Pylon-Moor-Pressure, the Campaign Group established to protect the villages of Mark and East Huntspill from this huge power line, has submitted a robust response to the route alignment announced by National Grid on 6 November 2012, Despite an incredibly short time for a response (6 weeks) and bearing in mind that the people who run the campaigns are volunteers (as indeed are the parish councillors of the councils that oppose this development) the response went in on time.
In summary it says:
(a) we reject the route and want a sub-sea connection as the impact of any overland line will simply be too great. Sustainable communities cannot be achieved;
(b) need to cost the socio-economic aspects at all phases as a matter of urgency;
(c) consultation process not adequate: parallel with highways schemes where it is a real exercise….evidence of failure and NG misinformation/obfuscation.
(d) no account taken of the changing element of Climate Change. Future-proofing our decisions. there is academic expertise in this: the work of Professor Barbara Adam at Cardiff University.
(e) Time to start again from Base 1 and look at all the options for connecting the power to the National Grid.
Great to see new site. I like the uncluttered look. Looking forward to seeing it up and running.
The site is great with breathtaking photos of the unspoilt landscape. Let’s keep it [landscape] that way!

So what are we all going to do about that?
